Athletics

Kia Ora,

This week we have started to practice athletics. Wheaea Megan had asked us to  put your hands if we wanted to go to Zones, and the people who did put there hand up had to do athletics training for a couple of days. When I put my hand up she put my name down.

The sports that I chose to do are in the following order Relay, 80m Sprint, High Jump and Long Jump. So on Wednesday and Thursday we did our training. First I came first in Sprints in my school, then I made High jump and then I made it into Long Jump. After our training on Thursday Wheaea Megan gave us a notice about it and I’m so excited for next Wednesday ( Because that’s when it is )

My Pun

Kia Ora,

Today, we created our own puns. The pun I made was about a house wearing an address. A Pun is a joke but like a dad joke so its pretty lame, or it so bad that its funny. Here it is!

Magazine Writing

Kia Ora,

This week for writing in our class we are making a class magazine. We have chosen multiple topics on what we are going to write about. Things like basketball, cooking, shapes, animals and even like what food or snack your country is known for.  I’m from Switzerland so I chose… Swiss Chocolate! I chose 2 of the most popular chocolates in Switzerland, Toblerone and Lindt. Now I’m going to show you my page.

Here it is!

T3 Winter Sport

Kia, Ora

Last Friday we had our Winter Sports Games at the Christchurch United Football grounds. The game I was playing was Goalball. Goalball is a game that they play in the Paralympics and it is like, Blind Football and Bowling combined.

First we got on the bus leaving school at 11.30 and we got there at 11.40. After we got there we sat on astro turf and ate something until the other schools came. The Schools there were Gilberthorpes, Wigram, Yaldhurst and us!

Our first game was at 12.20 and it was against Gilberthorpes and when the game started we got the first roll and I was taking it. Now I’m about to roll, I do a bowling pose and roll it… but I MADE IT! I was so happy when the ref told me when I scored. Next my team kept on Saving it and rolling.

Our Team and the record of 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw. Plus overall it was really enjoyable and I would recommend other people to play Goalball.

Basketball Information Report

Kia Ora,

In the last couple we have written some Information Reports. Today I’m going to show you one about basketball and the history of basketball. Here it is!

The Magical World Of Basketball

Did you know that basketball goes way back to 1891, where a teacher at McGill University made up a game called basketball. Even today that game is one of the world’s most popular games played and that’s just one of the facts that i’m gonna tell you in this information report.

Did you know that the first basketball hoop was a peach basket, and when someone scored they had to use a pole to get the ball out of the basket. The first basketball was a soccer ball. In 1891 the soccer ball looked like a brown netball today.

In 1962 a basketball player named Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in 1 game against the New York Knicks. Even today that record hasn’t been broken. The closest anyone has gotten was Kobe Byrant who scored 81 Points in 2006 against the Toronto Raptors.

To Conclude I think without basketball there would be less happy people in the world. Thank you for reading all of this

Information Report.

Firetruck Visit

Kia Ora,

This afternoon we had visit our Kura. We walked to the office at 1:55pm, and parked outside was a huge firetruck. When we got there we all sat down and waited for the firefighters to start speaking. The first thing they started talking about was their uniform. I learnt that when they put their oxygen masks on and turned the oxygen tank on that the person using it, only had 30 minutes of oxygen left. They also talked about their tools and made our teachers hold them. One was for cutting things and one was for moving things. Lastly they talked about their hose and it was huge and looked like a huge snake. Then Whaea Megan got to use it and then all of us did and I thought it was gonna be hard to operate it. But really it wasn’t and it was was so fun. Here are some photos!
